On December 8^th the 2017 Education Fair organized by the NGO Step by Step Bosnia and Herzegovina took place in Sarajevo, at the Youth Center “Skenderija”. Over 30 organizations, institutions and schools presented their innovative practices and projects to educational workers, parents, and students, as well as to the general audience. The Fair is conceived as an inspirational environment for learning and sharing knowledge and ideas – a place where various stakeholders contribute to education in different ways. Teaching was at the centre of the initiative during the innovative practices award giving that was held in the evening, after the Fair.  The teachers who participated in the contest sent the outlines of their practices from September to November. A jury composed of last year’s winners selected 50 nominees out of more than 160 practice submissions from all over Bosnia and Herzegovina. The winners of the 2017 edition were announced during the gala ceremony. Sanja Prodanović from the kindergarten “Cika Jova Zmaj” in Foča won the award in the category Pre-school educators. She designed the “Dragon Scouts” innovative practice, through which pupils learn about nature and how to cope in it, while respecting and preserving the environment. Amira Idrizović from “Suljo Čilić” Primary school in Jablanica was awarded in the category Class Teachers. With the help of her pupils, she created Palčići.ba, through which, each child can search for help with studying or for other life’s issues, or he/she can offer support to others. The third category award, Subject teachers in primary schools, went to Medisa Aljukić from the “Humci School” in Čelić. She established the English Club Humci on Facebook, a sort of virtual multimedia classroom connected to the school activities. Senada Milanović from “Bugojno Comprehensive”   was awarded in the  category Subject teachers in secondary schools , thanks to her innovative practice “Festival of Drama Miniatures”, an independent student project that includes dramatic writing, direction, acting, costume design, set design, music selection, light and sound arrangement, lasting up to 10 minutes. Mirsada Jaganjac and Eldina Dizdar from School “Isak Samokovlija” in Sarajevo were awarded for their “Applying restitution, principles of logical consequences and peer participation in conflict resolution and disciplinary measures among pupils/ students” concept, in the category of Professional associates at all levels of education. Their students propose measures, while the pedagogue directs the course of the conversation and monitors the implementation of the agreed solutions. Nisveta Kozlić from School Sindibad Zenica in Zenica received the award for the category dedicated to children with special needs. Leptir (the butterfly) is practice based on story that the educator wrote when she was working with a boy without the upper limbs in a pre-school institution with aim bringing the children closer to the subject.
